Community Guidelines
Last updated: 10 September 2026
Helix Gamer works because people rate games honestly and treat each other decently. These guidelines set out what that means in practice. They sit alongside the Terms of Use — breaking them can cost you your account.
Rate and review honestly
- A rating or review must be your genuine opinion of a game you actually own or have played.
- No review-bombing — don't pile onto a game to tank its score over something unrelated to the game itself.
- No coordinated campaigns, no paid or incentivised reviews, no reviews written by or for a developer or publisher about their own or a competitor's game.
- Don't create extra accounts to inflate your influence or repeat a review.
Keep it civil
- Criticise games as hard as you like. Don't attack people.
- No hate speech, slurs, racism, antisemitism, or dehumanising language about any group.
- No harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging others to pile on someone.
- No doxxing — never post someone's private information.
- No sexual content or shock content in reviews, usernames, bios or avatars.
Be yourself, and only yourself
- Don't impersonate another person, a developer, a public figure, or Helix Gamer staff.
- Usernames and bios must not be built to harass, deceive, or evade a ban.
Don't abuse the platform
- No spam — links, ads, or repetitive junk in reviews or profiles.
- No scraping, automated access, or bulk data extraction.
- No attempts to break, probe or bypass security or other members' privacy settings.
- No filing bad-faith reports to harass someone. A report on its own doesn't punish anyone — a person reviews it — but flooding the queue is itself a violation.
What happens when a rule is broken
We review reported content and accounts and decide case by case. Broadly:
- Serious violations — hate speech, threats, harassment, doxxing, sexual content, or anything illegal — result in an immediate and permanent ban. No warning, no strike.
- Lesser violations — spam, incivility, dishonest reviews, borderline conduct — result in a temporary suspension of around 7 days and a strike on your account. Three strikes is a permanent ban.
- We may also just remove or hide a specific piece of content without any account action, where that's proportionate.
A suspended or banned account is not entitled to a refund of unused subscription time, and a ban does not stop an App Store subscription from renewing — you need to cancel that yourself in your store settings.
Reporting something
Use the Report option on a review or profile in the app. Tell us what's wrong and we'll look at it. Reports are confidential — the person you report isn't told who reported them.
If you think we got it wrong
Email support@helixgamer.com with your username and what happened. We'll take a proper look. We aim to be fair and proportionate, but we make the final call.
